White Notes On Your iPhone

The iPhone comes with a yellow backgrounded text editor called Notes.  Most text editors in my experience (notepad, wordpad, Word, etc) have white backgrounds that are visually easier to work with than yellow backgrounds.  Unfortunately, Apple does not provide an out of the box way to change the background of the Notes app.  This article outlines how to change the Notes application background from yellow to white.

Note: The instructions in this article should also work for the iPad.

  1. Jailbreak your iPhone
  2. Download i-FunBox at http://www.i-funbox.com/
  3. Run i-FunBox and save a backup of /var/stash/applications/MobileNotes.app to your PC
    1. This is in case you ever want to go back to yellow notes
  4. Make a copy of the backup on your PC and edit the various yellow PNG filesOpen with an application like PhotoShop
    1. Change the image mode to grayscale (that will change the yellow to white)
  5. Using i-FunBox, copy the edited files back to /var/stash/applications/MobileNotes.app
  6. Reboot your phone and you should now have white notes
